Dear Congressman Davis:

Invitation to Speak at CORRE’s Annual Meeting

You are invited to speak at the Annual Meeting of the Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE), and we are inviting other members of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation as well.

The meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007, in the Heritage Fellowship Church in Oak Ridge. The church is on N. Illinois Avenue, just north of its intersection with Oak Ridge Turnpike.  We expect 700 to 800 retirees to attend.

Each member of the delegation is being invited to speak, with an allowance of 5 minutes for each.  If you cannot attend, a representative would be acceptable.  Also, each member of the delegation is invited to submit a written statement on his or her position relative to the support of CORRE positions on pension issues that we have with DOE and contractors in Oak Ridge.  We will read this statement to the retirees attending the meeting, if you or your representative is not present.  Written statements should be submitted by email to Pete Lotts, with a hard copy by mail to his street address, as shown below.    We will also publish the statement on the CORRE website.

So that we can plan our meeting agenda, please let us know if you will be attending, or if not, the name of a representative who will be speaking or attending.

Information about CORRE and its agenda may be viewed on its website:  www.corre.info.  As you are aware, CORRE represents approximately 12,000 retirees (or their surviving spouses) of contractors of facilities in Oak Ridge.

Please contact Pete Lotts if you have questions about this event or about CORRE and its positions.  If you cannot reach Mr. Lotts, call Keith Kibbe (865-938-1467).

                                                                                   Sincerely,

                                                                                   David E. Reichle, CORRE President

Hi Mr. Lotts,

I handle Congressman Lincoln Davis’ schedule so Beth has forwarded me your invitation.  Unfortunately, Congress will in session the day of the Annual Meeting, so the Congressman will need to be in Washington D.C.  Otherwise, I know he would have loved to participate.

Congressman Davis wanted me to be sure to thank you for the invitation, though he does send his regrets.

Best Regards,

Monica Hayden

Hello Monica-

Thanks for your email.  We are sorry to hear that Congressman Davis cannot attend the CORRE annual meeting.  We understand that Congress is in session then, and it is very difficult to be in district at that time.

Please note that in the letter of invitation, Dave Reichle invited the Congressman to send a representative and/or give us a statement which will be read and published on our website, www.corre.info.  We hope that he will send Beth Hickman or someone else to represent him.  And, we would certainly like to have his statement of concern and support for our issues about pensions in Oak Ridge. That would be an encouragement to all the retirees and their families.

Perhaps we can meet with Congressman Davis sometime when he is in district to discuss our concerns with him.  We would appreciate an early opportunity to do that.

Sincerely-

A. L. (Pete) Lotts

Mr. Lotts,

Beth Hickman will certainly be attending.  We are currently working on a statement and I will get that to you as soon as possible.

I will keep your request in mind.  We can try coordinating the next time the Congressman is in the Roane County area.

Thank you,

Monica Hayden
