| Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2007 9:18 PM Subject: Rebuttal of DOE and Contractor Disinformation on Pensions Dear Congressional Staff member- Since becoming involved with putting forth the case for DOE contractor retirees in Oak Ridge, we have become aware of disinformation that has been promulgated by DOE and the contractors over a period of time. We certainly are not accusing anyone of having done this deliberately, but the effect, all the same, has been damaging to the interests of retirees and their families. We believe that some of this irresponsible handling of the facts may have had more influence on staff and members of Congress than it should have. Indeed, we are quite sure this disinfomation has hurt our cause with some members of Congress in the past, since we have had to expend significant effort to overcome misconceptions planted by previous contact or communication with DOE or contractor personnel. CORRE has analyzed the most serious misstatements and disinformation. We attach a summary of the analysis. We would appreciate your help in getting balanced facts and accurate data to the member of Congress that you work for. If you are aware of some of these that have been presented to your member of Congress, we would appreciate your discussing our rebuttal with him.
