1. Opening Remarks.
First Vice President Joe Setaro opened the meeting, noting that
President Dave Reichle is traveling back from Atlanta. Reichle
joined the meeting a bit later. Setaro said we have
received information on number of retirees for each year, and Mike
Bradshaw is trying to get that information from Wackenhut. We
have also received requested information on dollar amounts of pensions
per county. Setaro said we have been trying all month to get a
meeting with B&W Y-12, but Mark Keck has been out of town. A
meeting is now scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on March 25, the day after Keck
returns. Keck is now over Compensation as well as Benefits, and
has also been dealing with the VRIF situation at Y-12.
2. Treasurer’s Report.
Paula Wright highlighted her report, copies of which had been
distributed. There were 8 new Active Members in February, and
balance on hand at end of February was $40,652.92, with approximately
3,099 Active Members.
3. Secret City Festival – June 19-20.
Mary Helen Rose reported that, based on Paula Wright’s
enthusiasm, we have registered for a spot at the Festival, requesting a
more visible spot than last year, and have paid for a tent to be
furnished and erected by the City on Thursday afternoon prior to the
festival. She has ordered a new smaller banner, which can be used
on the front of the table or on the top of the tent.
4. Communications.
Marty Goolsby arrived after Setaro’s opening remarks and also
mentioned that we have received the requested figures on amounts paid
out to retirees by county. She is trying to get a schedule for
the next issue of B&W Y-12 Retirement News, so that we can submit
some items for CORRE Corner. There was discussion about the
e-mail list Judy Kibbe is keeping and how to coordinate paper and
electronic newsletters to the best cost advantage. Dave Reichle
asked Marty Goolsby, Judy Kibbe, and Paula Wright to serve on a
Committee to work on such issues.
5. Government Relations Committee.
Pete Lotts reported that the Committee met and approved a plan of
action for the Committee. He will distribute copies of the plan
to Board members. Lotts said the Committee hasn’t done much
on the plan as yet. He said we need to update a 2008 Position
Paper. Bob Keil and Keith Kibbe are working on getting a new
resolution from the Tennessee legislature. Keith Kibbe gave an
update on his communication with Tom Craig of Senator Alexander’s
staff.
Bob Henderson reported that Congressman Lincoln Davis will be at the
Utopia Café (313 N. Roane Street) in Harriman from 3:00 to
4:30 on March 26. He will attend the meeting and urged others to
do so.
6. ORNL Benefits Advisory Committee. Joe Setaro reported that the
meeting scheduled for March 17 was cancelled on Friday. He
mentioned that the information on medical insurance he got at the last
meeting was passed on to Pete Peterson, because of interest to Bechtel
Jacobs Company.
7. Attendance at Board Meetings. A motion passed to drop Larry
Pierce from the Board, because of his failure to meet attendance
requirements as set forth in CORRE’s Bylaws.
8. CORRE Annual Meeting.
Dave Reichle will soon announce the appointment of a Committee to
schedule and plan for the meeting, which is to be held in the fall
according to our Bylaws.
9. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
Mary Helen Rose, CORRE Secretary
