Subject: Requesting a meeting with Senator Alexander
The Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE) would like to
invite Senator Alexander to come to Oak Ridge or Knoxville and address
a meeting of Oak Ridge retirees and interested persons sometime in the
next few months. We are quite certain 500 to
1000 persons would attend such a meeting. Among other
things that he would address, we would like for Senator Alexander to
address the matter of pension improvements for retirees of Oak Ridge
Department of Energy contractors.
In addition, the officers of CORRE would like to have a meeting
with him to brief him on the pension issues and what needs to be done
about them. We will be interested in his views on the
refusal of DOE and the contractors to continue past practices of
granting adjustments to compensate partially for inflation. That
meeting could be done at any time, preferably in advance of the larger
member meeting, as we are certain the Senator would like to know first
hand our points of view on the retirement income issues with the
Department of Energy.
We are quite flexible regarding time and dates. Please let me know when these meetings can be arranged.
Thank you-
