Dear Mr. Sherry:
Our Recent Meeting with You
Thank you for the cordial and open discussion with representatives of
the Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE) during our meeting
with you on August 31. Bob Worrell and I enjoyed the chance
to tour your new office facilities, which are exceedingly well done and
certainly a vast improvement over the old Y-12 administrative
building. We also appreciated the opportunity to acquaint you
with our organization and to review with you our goals as set out in
CORRE’s 2007 Position Paper.
As we discussed during the meeting, CORRE intends to vigorously pursue
its stated goals, with emphasis on an ad hoc increase in pension
benefits for all retirees that will restore at least 75 percent of lost
buying power due to inflation, and a flat-rate reduction factor of 2
percent for retirees who elected the surviving spouse option prior to
July 2004. We strongly believe that both requests are in keeping
with the long history of periodic pension adjustments for Oak Ridge
retirees, beginning in 1969, and with a fair and equitable sharing of
the pension trust fund. We will, of course, continue to work with
Mr. Dials and his staff, as well as with our legislative
representatives, as we attempt to find satisfactory solutions to these
issues.
We look forward to your assistance on these important matters.
Sincerely,
David E. Reichle, CORRE President
