The
Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE) is calling upon its
members and citizens of East Tennessee to express its outrage at the
lack of consideration for adjustments for retirees and the continued
unfair practice of DOE and the operating contractors in Oak Ridge with
respect to its treatment of its retirees. It is essential that the
management of DOE, the contractor management and your elected
representatives hear from you in writing.
For direction
as how best to contact your Congressmen and a list of suggested topics

CORRE has petitioned the DOE
contractors to extend the 2% flat rate spousal option offered
to employees in July 2004, to retirees as well. It is past time
for another pension adjustment, since current
retirees have lost, on average, over 50 percent of the value of their
pensions due to inflation.

A letter from President Dave Reichle to Oak
Ridge retirees
Dear Fellow Retirees:
CORRE’s
Board of Directors has been very busy during the first half of
2005. During March, April, and May CORRE representatives have met
with officials from DOE-Oak Ridge and DOE prime contractors in Oak
Ridge—BWXT, UT-Battelle, Wackenhut, and Bechtel-Jacobs. CORRE has
also briefed staff of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation on pension
issues of concern to employees.
These pension issues are
discussed in detail in the new CORRE 2005 Position Paper. You
will find a copy of this position paper, and other activities underway,
on this web site. Click on (CORRE
2005 Position Paper)
to read a copy of the position paper and on (CORRE
Accomplishments and Activities) to see a list of CORRE
accomplishments and activities. The Pension Fund is healthy and
the surplus is well over half a billion dollars in excess of that
necessary to meet all auctorial liabilities.
CORRE has petitioned the DOE
contractors to extend the 2% flat rate spousal option that was offered
to employees in July 2004, to retirees as well. CORRE also
believes that it is time for another pension adjustment, since current
retirees have lost, on average, over 50 percent of the value of their
pensions due to inflation.
Dave Reichle, CORRE President
June 2005
