After the welcome and introductions by Sandy Dean, Joe Setaro highlighted 2004 Goals and Accomplishments as shown in the first CORRE Newsletter, copies of which were given to retirees as they entered the ORHS auditorium. (The newsletter had been mailed to about 2,300 CORRE Active Members prior to the meeting.) A copy of the CORRE Newsletter is attached to the record copy of these minutes. Present from legislative offices and giving short talks were: Ms. Gina Broome from Rep. Wamp’s office; Ms. Beth Hickman from Rep. Davis’s office; and Mr. Dean Rice from Rep. Duncan’s office. No staff members were present from the offices of Senators Alexander and Frist. Other speakers were Vice Mayor Tom Beehan of the City of Oak Ridge, and State Representative Jim Hackworth. CORRE’s Past President, Charlie Kuykendall, gave a very spirited talk to kick off the rally. ATLC president Carl Scarbrough was unable to be present and speak, due to a workers’ rally which was scheduled at Y-12 for 3:30 p.m. Bob Keil, Board Member, spoke briefly on behalf of the ATLC. Board Member Ben Gaylor introduced Ricky Gallaher, who spoke for PACE. Vice President Joe Setaro gave a forceful closing talk, urging retirees to do their part by communicating with their legislators. President Dave Reichle was present, but did not participate in the meeting since he was recovering from very recent heart surgery. There were no elections, since board members were elected in October 2003 for two-year terms (2004-2005). Mary Helen Rose, Board Secretary |
