Opening Remarks. President Dave Reichle noted that former Board member Ken Cowser died on December 26. He mentioned that transfer of the Treasurer’s job to Paula Wright is taking place. 2. Secretary/Treasurer’s Report. Mary Helen Rose highlighted her November-December Treasurer’s report, copies of which had been distributed. The report showed a balance of $39,761.63 as of December 31, 2006. She stated that Ken Moore has picked up the records for audit, and arrangements have been made with ORNL-FCU for changing the account to show Paula Wright as Treasurer as of January 1, 2007. Mary Helen will continue as Secretary. 3. Communications. Sandy Dean reported that she is working on an article for the Retiree Newsletter. She sent a letter of thanks to Joanne Gailor for her recent article, and a birthday card to Al Brooks thanking him for his efforts. 4. ORNL Benefits Advisory Committee. Fred Shull reported that the Committee did not meet due to the holiday, but will meet next week. 5. Legislative Committee. Pete Lotts again encouraged Board members to display CORRE bumper stickers. Regarding Congressional contacts, he said they are working with Senator Alexander’s staff. Senator Corker’s office is aware that we want to meet with him. Dave Reichle has been in touch with Congressman Wamp’s office again; they have not been communicating with us much. Reichle will initiate conversations again with Helen Hardin. We will ask other people in the Democratic Congress (Lincoln Davis and others) for support. Lotts wrote a letter to Ingrid Kolb, DOE-HQ, about comments in the Savannah River Newsletter. He asked for clarification of what DOE’s policy now is concerning adjustments. He received acknowledgement of the letter, but no reply as yet. 6. Status of DVD. Reichle stated that our motive for expediting production of the DVD is so that we can have it available to get in the hands of our Legislators. Keith Kibbe said the project is coming along. He thinks we will have proof copies about February 7-10. The first section is complete and was viewed on a computer at the Senior Center by Board members following the meeting. 7. Report on Bechtel Jacobs Fund. Pete Peterson reported that he met with Kelli Schiffer, Director of Human Resources at Bechtel Jacobs. They talked about DOE Policy 351.1 and about the prescription drug benefit. She had no information as to whether the 28% rebate will be shared. Some figures on retirees: 551 people are drawing checks as of 12-01-06, 240 are vested but deferred, and there are 657 grandfathered active employees as of 01-02-07. Their trust fund is 93% funded. Asked about why they did not grant the 2% spouse option, she replied that there was no funding. As to who might manage the fund when Bechtel Jacobs leaves, she thought it would be an EM contractor. 8. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 3:40 p.m. Mary Helen Rose, CORRE Secretary
