Box 2050 Oak Ridge, Tennessee 37831 Dear Mr. Brumley: CORRE Presentation and 2004 Position Paper I appreciate the opportunity that you have provided for the Coalition of Retired Oak Ridge Employees (CORRE) to brief you and your staff about the need for an adjustment to retirees’ pensions. We hope that you will be proactive in supporting this request. The data that CORRE has compiled indicate that retirees have recovered in previous adjustments less than 50% of the inflationary losses in their pensions. The last adjustment in 2001 skipped those retiring in the previous three years, so that no retiree after January 1998 has received any adjustment. More than sufficient funds are available in the Pension Fund to accommodate an adjustment at this time. We are enclosing for your information and consideration copies of the following documents: 1. Our viewgraph presentation to you and your staff on August 25. 2. CORRE’s 2004 Position Paper. A copy of our petition, with approximately 5,864 signatures, is being forwarded to you separately. We appreciate very much your interest in the welfare of Oak Ridge retirees -- particularly your support of the improvement in minimum pension benefits for about 10% of the retirees last year.
